How to make perfect hard boiled eggs that won’t crack.

  • Prepare a pot large enough to cover the eggs with at least 1″ of water.
  • Do not add salt to the water.
(Salt tends to raise the boiling point of the water which turns the eggs into rubber)
  • Place eggs into pot. Try not to stack eggs on top of each other. You want an even layer.
  • Bring water to a roaring boil, remove from heat and cover.
  • For Large eggs, set timer for 17 minutes.
  • For Jumbo eggs, set time for 20 minutes.
  • After timer has sounded, drain water from eggs.
  • Place eggs in a bowl of cool water for at least 10 minutes.
(While they’re in the cold water, a layer of steam develops between the shell and the egg white. The steam helps make peeling an egg much easier.)

And there ya have it, A perfectly cooked hard boiled egg!
